As the pieces of a puzzle connect, the picture begins to emerge, even when lacking the knowledge of where the remaining pieces fit. By faith we believed everything is by design; every piece fits in a specific place, and all the pieces are necessaryβthe creator made no more nor less than needed.
Likewise, those who seek the knowledge of the truth do so through faith and prayer; by seeking in the scriptures, piece by piece, the revelation of the truth comes together.
When the truth of God is known, it can be difficult to convey to others as a picture. Those who have the pieces assembled see the picture; others lack the assembled pieces. They can be told what the picture is, but they cannot see; you can only provide them with one piece at a time. Until enough pieces come together in their mind, they will not understand.
Most people already hold a personal picture of “”reality”βone they have assembled over their lifeβa mental construct of a worldview developed from their youth. They have learned to trust in their mental construct of the world as a foundationβa guiding force and a strong city with walls to protect their ideology.
However, the Bible says, βA wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.β (Proverbs 21:22)
To effectively communicate the picture, it is necessary to study and know the pieces and to understand how they fit together. Only then is it possible to present a comprehensive picture that is persuasive to unbelievers; it is then the walls can start to come down.
The whole Bible has interlocking connections; every piece combines with others to create a picture. The mysteries run so deep and were written over such a long period by dozens of authors in harmony that the writings could not be anything apart from the work of the Holy Spirit linking them all together in concord across the ages. Once you comprehend all things written, it becomes impossible to deny the divine inspiration of the work.
However, as challenging as it can be to convince unbelievers who lack biblical knowledge, the greater challenge comes in discourse with the devoutly religiousβthose who may agree on some fundamentals but hold fast to falsehoods received through traditions. This, too, will likely be the way they perceive those who reject their theology. Thus, the body of believers is fragmented by many divisions and various theological camps.
Furthermore, every individual has their own unique puzzle, so we all see a different picture of the world, even if only ever so slightlyβno two pictures are exactly alike. The pieces we work with are the things we believe, and when the pieces are aligned, there is agreement. However, forcing pieces into places they do not fit creates abstract ideologies and brings conflicts in the world. There is no peace without truth; God is Truth.
Throughout life, people are gathering various pieces, many of which are either handed down or passed around. Most of the pieces are not part of the true puzzle. Those who truly seek God are guided by the Spirit; they recognize the counterfeit and the true pieces, and they understand how they fit together. In due season the true picture of God becomes crystal clear.
The Spirit draws those who hunger for truth. Feeding them puzzle pieces in preparation for the day of salvation, the truth becomes inescapably apparent. Those who know God know that the pieces they gathered throughout their lives were given to them by the Holy Spirit; they know they are the truth, and by them they have faith in God and know Him.
The Spirit calls to those who hunger that they may be filled.
βWisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets; she crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates; in the city she uttereth her words.β (Proverbs 1:20, 21)
It is her desire to give life.
