Everything created was done with intent, design, and purpose. Nothing made is random. Everything in the physical realm is patterned after invisible existence. All things physical are material illustrations of the spiritual things they rest upon.

By the study of temporal things that were created, we can comprehend the eternal. The invisible things before creation were kept secret until they were made manifest by their embodiment in the physical realm. As it is written,

“For the invisible things of Him [God] from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead.” (Romans 1:20)

Touching upon invisible things being the foundation for the physical creation and the framework for all material things, it is written:

“Through faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things that are seen were not made of things that do appear.” (Hebrews 11:3)

God has given us creation as a physical reflection of things that cannot be seen—a likeness of the spiritual realm.

Like a reflection in a mirror, the things we see in the material realm are not as real as the invisible objects they are reflections of. Reflections in a mirror are temporal; they only exist if there is light. A blinding light or the absence of light destroys the reflection, while the true objects remain in light or darkness.

God made a physical creation to reveal hidden knowledge. If we use a mirror to look around a corner, when we turn the corner, we see the true objects.

Jesus related to people in physical terms. He expressed spiritual things to Nicodemus by relating them to similar physical likeness, saying,

“The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” (John, 3:8)

Using the wind that can be felt but not seen, Jesus related the movement of the wind to the movement of the Spirit, a spiritual force with direction that is felt but not seen.

Jesus gave the reason for using created objects to express the spiritual things, saying,

“If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly things?” (John 3:12)

If invisible truths can’t be understood through their created reflections, how can they be understood existing in the unseen and unknown?

Jesus always spoke in parables, using things familiar to the hearers to explain the spiritual things that were hidden beyond their understanding.

Creation is a classroom. God created it for that purpose when he said, “Let there be light” (knowledge).

Therefore, Jesus spoke in parables: “All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them.” (Matthew, 13:34)

“That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, ‘I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.’” (Matthew, 13:35)

Thus, the secrets and mysteries of God are revealed in creation. The universe is God’s university. Everything created testifies to the invisible things they reflect. Everything existing in our material dimension of matter and energy exhibits its counterpart in the invisible dimension that was before.
