Everything God created is with intent and purpose. Nothing God made is random. Everything in the physical realm was patterned after invisible things. The physical things are illustrations of the spiritual things they rest upon.
By careful observation of the things that were created, we may understand the eternal. The invisible things before creation were kept secret until they were made manifest by their embodiment in the physical realm. As it is written,
βFor the invisible things of Him [God] from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead.β (Romans 1:20)
Furthermore, touching upon invisible things being the foundation for the physical creation and the framework for all material things, it is written,
βThrough faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things that are seen were not made of things that do appear.β (Hebrews 11:3)
God has given in creation a physical reflection that mirrors the unseen things in the spiritual realm. The physical realm is a similitude made after things that cannot be seen.
Thus, like a reflection in a mirror, the things we see in our realm are not as real as the objects that they are reflections of. Reflections in a mirror only exist if there is light, and blinding light destroys them; true objects remain in light or darknessβ”vis-Γ -vis” the material and the spiritual.
God uses the physical creation to reveal hidden knowledge and future events; it is as if we use a mirror to look around a corner and glimpse what lies ahead when we turn the corner; we see images of those things.
This is exemplified in the Gospel of John, chapter 3, where Jesus relates in physical terms to Nicodemus an expression of spiritual things when he says to him,
βThe wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.β (John, 3:8)
Using the windβa physical thing that can be felt but not seenβJesus relates the movement of the wind to the movement of the Spirit, a spiritual force felt but not seen.
Jesus then states the reason for using created objects to express the spiritual attributes of eternal invisible things when he speaks again to Nicodemus, saying,
βIf I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly things?β (John 3:12)
If invisible truths can’t be understood through their reflections, how can they be understood in the unseen and unknown?
Jesus always spoke in parables, using things familiar to the hearers to explain the spiritual things that were hidden beyond their understanding.
Creation is a classroomβGod created it for that purpose when he said, βLet there be lightβ (knowledge).
Therefore, Jesus spoke in parables: βAll these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them.β (Matthew, 13:34)
βThat it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, βI will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.’β (Matthew, 13:35)
Thus, the secrets and mysteries of God are revealed in creation. The universe is Godβs university. Everything created testifies to the invisible things they mirror. Everything existing in our material dimension of matter and energy exhibits its counterpart in the invisible dimension.
If you desire to look into the invisible realm, study the physical creation of God; it testifies to all things and to the Word of God that created it.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth his handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. (Psalm 19:1-3)
